Short, honest answer: there is currently no open call in Madeira dedicated solely to SME digitalisation. The two regional calls that funded a technology component in 2025–2026 have both closed. What you can do now is have the application ready before the next window opens — because they last weeks, not months.

If you are looking for a grant to install pre-ordering, online payment, POS or management software in your café in Madeira: right now there is no open regional line for it. There was one, and there will be again — but what separates those who get funded from those who don't is not the idea, it is having the paperwork ready on the day the call is published.
Published 5 August 2025, applications from 5 August to 30 September 2025, 17:00. Budget €10 million ERDF. Base rate 25%, rising up to 45% depending on company size, creation of qualified jobs and location (IDR-RAM).

Published 1 April 2026, applications from 1 April to 15 May 2026, 17:00. Budget €1 million ERDF, co-funding up to 40%. Supported actions included foreign-market prospecting, international marketing, e-commerce, brand creation and promotion, certification (Madeira 2030).

It is the only business call currently open in Madeira that is relevant to hospitality, but it does not cover digitalisation: it funds refrigeration, HVAC, lighting and low-consumption equipment. If your investment also has an energy component, see the SIEED guide — that deadline is firm.
Golden rule: do not buy the software or sign the implementation contract before submitting an application. Spending incurred before submission stops being eligible. Ask suppliers for proforma invoices — never actual invoices — and keep them.

As of 24 July 2026, there is no open call dedicated solely to SME digitalisation in the Region. Inovação 2030 closed on 30.09.2025 and Internacionalização 2030 on 15.05.2026. Always check madeira.portugal2030.pt, as this changes with each published call.
In calls that have funded digitalisation, software, licences and implementation services typically qualify as eligible costs within an approved investment project. It is not automatic — it depends on the call in force and how the project is framed. With no call open, nothing is eligible today.
Because the windows are short: Inovação 2030 was open for about 8 weeks, Internacionalização 2030 for about 6. Anyone who starts gathering documents only after the announcement rarely submits in time.
National instruments supporting SME digital transition do exist, with their own rules and coverage — not all of them include Madeira, and their windows open and close. No. SIEED (M2030-2026-21) is energy efficiency and decarbonisation. POS, pre-ordering and management software are not covered by that call. There is one exception worth knowing: software, licences and sensors for energy monitoring and management are an eligible cost under SIEED.
